 This could be a red herring, but maybe I am noticing a correlation in
 /var/log/messages between 'GConf' and 'oom-killer' or other crash
 symptoms.  Amazingly, I have an instance of Firefox-6 activity running for
 11 hours now, no slows or crashes, and no hint of 'GConf' in
 /var/log/messages (yet).

 I also have '''not''' run Browse during this 11-hour stretch.

 I have occasionally, in this stretch, run Terminal, Write, ctrl-alt-mesh
 console, Journal only a wee bit, and maybe Log viewer.

 I'm using a G1G1 XO, beta build 8.2-759, Firefox-6 Activity.
