 Greg,

 WPA works in most cases. Daniel's report on #7825 provides some very good
 clues as to why the association might be failing with some APs out there.
 I don't think it is a regression problem. It might appear as such since
 there is timing involved in the problematic behavior.
 Daniel's  suggestion about using WPA2 is a good one and we should keep
 tracking this issue under #7825
