 Because you need /something/ to differentiate between all the 'tom',
 'dick', and 'harry' accounts.  Kids will use their first names as their XO
 names, and those first names will have collisions.  IRC doesn't handle
 collisions at all.  So we append a bit of the SHA1 sum to reduce the
 chance of collisions dramatically.
