Comment:

 We can work around this problem by deleting nminfo.py persistent list of
 preferred networks.

 If we issue the following command on the shell before trying to associate
 from the GUI:
 {{{
 init 3 && rm /home/olpc/.sugar/default/nm/networks.cfg  && init 5
 }}}
 we have not seen it fail (in over 20 attempts).  This workaround only
 works if the correct password is entered on the first attempt.  If you
 enter and invalid password you'll have to try again.
