 I should've specified - synaptics_reconnect appears to do a full init of
 the device.  I could definitely see that taking 2s.

 The code path looks like:

 olpc.c/synaptics.c register a psmouse->reconnect callback for psmouse-
 base.c; psmouse-base registers a serio_driver reconnect callback;
 serio.c's serio_reconnect_driver calls the callback, and serio_resume
 calls serio_reconnect_driver.
