Comment:

 I see "invalid filter 1" all the time in the VT1 console but have never
 had a problem (with a MP XO running builds 650, 653, 708, 711, and 8.2.0
 candidate builds) pressing Enter to login as root.  So I set worksforme-
 review.

 I filed bug #8833 to eliminate the "invalid filter 1" messages, I think
 they come from the X Window System.
