 ... Or at least not after one minute!

 Perhaps you should differentiate between aggressive power saving when
 running on battery, and smooth power saving when plugged into the wall.
 For instance, smooth power saving will progressively dim the screen every
 minute if there is no user event, down to brighness level 1.
