Comment:

 Tried CLI 'sugar-control-panel -g available_updates' again with Joyride
 2529 - on a system which does NOT have a swapfile defined.  Terminal
 disappeared while the command was accessing WikipediaEN (or something like
 that).  When I subsequently tried to launch Terminal again, the system was
 extremely unresponsive - literally took minutes to show even a trivial
 screen change.  [I did not have the patience, and walked away;  I believe
 this simple launch of Terminal ultimately failed.]

 Much much later went into text terminal (ctl-alt-F1) and took an olpc-
 dump.
