#8918: recent ext3 images can not boot the XO off a USB

 As the title says, I could not boot the XO using the ext3 images of
 joyride 2515 or 2523 in a SanDisk USB stick. They both failed with after
 the "welcome to olpc" with multiple failures at "/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit
 :line 830" and beyond
 2523 even updated the firmware before it crashed, so now the XO runs under
 q2e21 (and 767 is fine with that) but no luck with the joyrides.
 So newer builds can not really be tested without messing up the stable
 8.2-767 build in the NAND :-(
