Comment:

 This is a constant annoyance.  If I am away from the home view, the
 shortest path to shut down may be to switch to the home view, then switch
 to the circle view, and then select shutdown from the self-menu.

 One solution for this to make the self-menu appear over all instances of
 the self, or at least more instances.  For example, that menu could appear
 over the self icon in the groups and mesh view.  It could even appear as
 the dropdown menu for the self-icon in the right frame panel, which is
 always present.

 Alternatively, we could add a "This XO" device to the bottom frame panel,
 which controls shutdown, etc.
