 I'm kind of with hoboprimate on this one.  The journal is special, and it
 has its own key. It's not an activity one ever starts.  I never want to
 switch to it unless I press the journal key - it's almost another zoom
 level (sorry Eben if this is a abusing the metaphor a bit).
