 It is a feature request for our trac setup (assigned to the 'trac'
 module). I was hoping to use this entry to discuss possible paths for this
 - for example, is there an existing patch that implements this? If so, is
 it good/supportable? What do we know about upstream intentions wrt this?

 I don't want to burden you with this as a real "task" - instead, I am
 hoping for a discussion that gets documented here, as this is a key need
 we have...
