 I think that omitting full text search is the right thing to do here.  We
 must scan recursively, however, so that all files on the device are listed
 and available.  I don't believe that doing this should take terribly long,
 and I also think we could do this async so that the list is available for
 searching/browsing while it is still being populated.

 I have a powerful suggestion for enhancing this scanning process though,
 that should make it easier for people to view devices which contain
 hierarchies.  I think that the scanning process should add two bits of
 metadata to the index for each file: 1) The full path to the file on the
 device and 2) the name of the file's parent directory, if it has one.
 This will allow one to begin typing a file path to narrow the list
 accordingly, with only those files within subdirectories appearing, or to
 simply type the name of a directory (assuming unique directory names) to
 list its contents.
