 It often happens that Pango-rendered text appears on top of objects
 rendered in front of it. I'm not sure how to reliably trigger this yet.

 One way is to wiggle the mouse pointer over a window edge covering a
 button so it switches from the hw cursor to the sw cursor (see first
 attached picture).

 In the same picture another problem is visible - text is rendered multiple
 times on top of it self without clearing the background in between, so the
 antialiased edges get smeared and blocky.
