 This is apparently an old problem - but I didn't find a previous ticket.
 Clicked on the Journal entry for a .pdf file.  That brought up the
 ReadActivity.  Clicked on zoom (wanted to enlarge the images embedded in
 the document).  That made the display_width of the document to be greated
 than the width of my screen.  The screen showed a vertical scrollbar --
 but no horizontal scrollbar.  Was unable to "pan" to the right edge of the
 enlarged document.
