Comment:

 To remain consistent with the designs for Journal thumbnail view, we're
 going to render such missing previews as the activity icon itself, within
 the gray rectangle boundary.  This change isn't really needed until we
 begin to integrate the new designs for the Journal, including the
 action/object split.
