Comment(by Eben):

I question the use cases for the suggestion made in this ticket. As far
as I can tell, the two proposed are:

  1. To show someone the first-boot sequence
  2. To let another individual temporarily change nick/colors

Before going further, I would point out that use case 2 is already handled
by the current control panel interface. It's trivial to change the name
and colors for any period of time, without needing to return to the first
boot sequence. I also think that use case 1, while potentially valid, is
not something that Sugar should be exposing...anyone with this need should
be able to delete the file mentioned in order to achieve this goal.

Finally, I propose another use case:

 3. To effectively wipe one's identity from a machine, so as to permanently
 offer it to another individual.

This use case does, in fact, require a return to the first boot sequence,
so that the new individual gets a fresh experience. However, for this use
case to mean anything, the rest of the settings would also be restored to
their defaults, and all user data previously stored on the machine be
wiped, akin to a "factory install". The question is: "Is use case 3
actually a use case worth supporting?".

I leave this ticket open for comment; we can close it if it receives
 negative or no response.
