Comment:

 But that trick still involves an extra step and requires clever planning
 ahead.  So Karl's original desideratum is still valid...

 So... update 2040functionTileInTest now does the real thing -- i.e., it
 now allows a bare function tile, such as random(5), to be dropped into an
 empty TEST area, whereupon it will automatically get expanded into a
 corresponding boolean phrase, in the same manner as is done for slot-
 getters and for parameter tiles.
