 I have found two reports of the same bug in HAL package version >0.5.10.
 We are running 0.5.11 on olpc3-19:  in Ubuntu with a user running KDE
 [https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/172453], and in Gentoo
 [http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-4540223.html].  Unfortunately
 neither bug report describes a resolution, but both are more than six
 months old.
