Comment:

It occurred to me last night that we could build an initramfs for in-place
partitioning. This irfs could boot the system, delete everything except
/home, "compact" the JFFS2 filesystem on NAND, partition the system,
install the new system data, and reboot. (If we need to reformat the user-
data partition, then we would probably need to use our USB key for temp
space.) (We could also consider a Forth solution but it would seem, on the
surface, to be expensive to extend such a solution to new filesystems
compared with a Linux system.) (Finally, some care is needed when keeping
track of how much space is needed for the boot and system partitions in
order to give proper user feedback.)
