 As another option to fixing our NAND full issues, tomeu proposed shipping
 a little activity which provided a "journal-like" view of the datastore --
 maybe reusing much of the Journal's code -- but that bypassed the
 datastore to do direct removals of files.  This allows us to recover from
 a NAND full situation without making Xapian ENOSPC-safe.
