 Gadget offers API [1] to search:

 - buddies by properties

 - buddies by alias

 - activities by participants

 - activities by properties (for example, all the activities of type Write)

 Not sure we should offer UI for all type of searches though.

 Current mesh view search is basically a filter on already displayed
 buddies/activities. The big difference here is that searches are performed
 on the *server* side. So it will return new buddies/activities which stay
 alive while the search result (called "view") is not closed. While a view
 is open, new buddies/activities can be added or removed and Gadget will
 inform us about changes.
