 Isn't it due to the fact that the xserver is started up on tty2?

 In any case, I think another symptom of this is that:

 1) Start a Terminal activity

 2) Start a second Terminal activity

 3) Quit the second Terminal (Alt-Esc, or the Stop button)

 4) X restarts!

 Ugh.

 w shows olpc-dm started from tty2, which sounds wrong.  On my F9 box,
 gnome-session is on tty7 and on the XO I'd expect olpc-dm to be on tty3,
 not tty2.

 (this is all joyride-2174 on a C2 XO)
