#7661: mouse selection wonkiness in Joyride

I installed tkinter on a Joyride 2137 machine so that I could run IDLE.
On opening IDLE, a trackpad movement and click doesn't move the insertion
point, nor does click and drag select text. Moving the insertion point
with the arrow keys and selecting text by shift/moving works. Right click
works, bringing up a 'go to' tool tip.
So left click seem to be getting lost. This would seem to be a symptom of
some underlying wonkiness. I suspect that this same behavior would occur
in other X applications.
This works properly in 708.
Notes to help duplicate my situation:
To install tkinter (needed for IDLE):
{{{
su
yum install tkinter
exit
}}}
To run IDLE:
{{{
cd /usr/lib/python2.5/idlelib
python idle.py
}}}
