Comment:

 I had a quick look, thrn I noticed it's using a couple of ControlPanel
 internal members, so I'm leaving it to Simon to figure out how to best
 expose those.

 Just some nitpicks by me:

  * Does the except on os.unlink need to be a catch all? I think we should
 at least log.error the exception anyway.
  * I'd like to reduce the verbosity of the comments a bit. In particular I
 don't think two references to the trac ticket are necessary. We use FIXME
 instead of XXX.
  * _open_control_panel_cb would be probably more readable with some new
 lines.
  * Reusing __stop_clicked_cb is a little weird, let's just use a separate
 callback.
