 We used to open them in place in the same window, too.  The point here is
 that we ''need'' to place JS spawned windows in a popup so they remain in
 context with the parent and can be referenced in code;  the other cases
 should be handled separately.  The trick is differentiating them in the
 first place, in which case we can certainly continue to use the single-
 instance trick.
