 Other reports of problems with low brightness levels include #1433 (closed
 by jg as "worksforme", but it's still too bright when used in a pitch dark
 room -- perhaps eyes differ) and #3747.  If looking again at that
 circuitry for gen-1.5, please make it possible to reliably set the
 brightness very low, so that in a dark room, such as in a home without
 electricity, the screen can be seen and a book can be read, but it doesn't
 light up the room (and burns less power than in gen-1).
