 in the case of a F-7 based build and a F-9 there is little to nothing the
 same.  so they are using pretty much if  not all of the full image size.
 yes  it's trivial to free up the space. but do we make sure that info goes
 all the way down to the deployment teams.  and the teachers in the
 schools?
