 When attempting to do that from joyride (2155), I encountered thousands of
 lines of:

 {{{
 --link-dest arg does not exist: /versions/pristine/2155/usr/bin/foobar
 }}}

 ...listing a different file each time.  It goes on for a while, ending
 with:

 {{{
 rsync: link_stat 'root/etc/alsa/.' (in build-debian) failed: No such file
 or directory (2)
 }}}

 Then it starts its incremental upgrade, and starts again with the --link-
 dest error messages.
