 In kernel commit message 12f88e2534190e92193d8dd540e2f055e499dafa its
 stated that:

 dd bs=1 count=1 skip=16 if=/sys/class/power_supply/olpc-battery/eeprom |
 od -x

 will allow you to grab a single byte from the eeprom.  This does not work
 for me. If I specify any value for skip= then I always get the same result
 of 0x2e
