Comment:

 Looks like upstream pygtk would just log a warning in that case, but
 fedora contains a patch that causes it to throw an exception:

 pygtk-nodisplay-exception.patch

 That patch looks to have been added because of this bug:

 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208608

 That I cannot access :/
