 When buddies leave the snowflake, because they switched current
 activities, it leaves a gap. When they switch back, instead of filling the
 gap it moves them up and keeps the gap.

 Over the lifetime of a shared activity (with a fixed number of
 participants), with participants alt-tabbing and changing their current
 activity, the gap grows bigger and bigger and the buddies get closer and
 closer together.
