 Overnight test:
  - two machines updated from 653 to 690.
  - tested as browse is slow after update.
  - NOT touched fc-cache or anything else
  - Shutdown
  - restart this morning
  - the mtime of the cache files do not have changed (/var/cache/fontconfig
 and ~/.fontconfig)
  - browse is again at normal speed
  - when introspect with strace no 'open' calls to fontconfig  stuff can be
 seen as have been with the machines after the update

 strace of wiki.laptop.org attached.
