 To be Gentoo-friendly, and I suspect the same is true for other distros,
 you just need to be as similar as possible to any random distro-
 independent open source package, i.e. source tarballs easily available,
 README that specifies dependencies, autotools based packaging or at least
 a decently complex makefile with support for installing to
 $random_location, etc.
