 I am wondering whether these are considered a significant enough changes
 to bump the version numbers of artwork and sugar-base. If not I may just
 use git+current date as the version number, but the former would be
 cleaner.

 As for the sugar split, if it is planned to happen soon it may not be
 worth uploading packages to have them split in a short while and cause
 unnecessary work in the archive. But if it is not a priority, then I am
 fine with any solution as long as the licensing terms are clear.
