Comment(by eeksock):

 Figured out the issue (at least for me)! I ended up with two entries for
 my work SSID in networks.cfg.

 I had previously used the Wpa.sh script file on OLPC Wiki to get WPA
 working at work. This added an entry for my work SSID into
 /home/olpc/.sugar/default/nm/networks.cfg for it. When going through the
 Update.1 UI, it added a *second* entry for the same SSID into
 networks.cfg.

 Removing both, rebooting, and connecting to my work network using the
 Sugar interface now works for me, and I verify that there is only one
 entry for that network in networks.cfg.

 I conjecture that others who have used Wpa.sh to get their WPA working
 might be running into the same issue with leftover entries in
 networks.cfg.
