Pootle can become quite resource intensive when one tries to merge PO
files for larger projects like Etoys - it hogs 100% CPU for a significant
amount of time, and I had to manually restart the PootleServer process
after around 15 minutes in order to make things come back to normal.

I asked the Pootle mailing list on this, and the developer
 [http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=1201382239.4610.66.camel%40localhost&forum_name
=translate-pootle suggests] that we use python-Levenshtein to speed up the
 process.

Unfortunately there's no Debian package yet, but the sources can be
 downloaded from
 http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91920&package_id=260161
