 There was a major rewrite in the driver. Network Manager uses
 wpa_supplicant for encryption which is known to be very sensitive to
 timing.

 Best guess at this point is that wpa_supplicant does not like the
 responses that it gets from the driver.

 The firmware hasn't changed, it is the least suspect component at this
 point.
