 I think the bcdDevice change might be a red herring -- the failure seems
 to be correlated with mesh traffic. When I first implemented this at home,
 I could happily send the CMD_802_11_RESET command and reload the firmware.
 When I went to 1cc, it didn't work any more.

 Now, I've seen something similar in a school in Ulaanbaatar -- on Friday
 when there were laptops all over the place talking mesh, it didn't work.
 On Saturday when the network is quiet, it resets fine.
