Albert Cahalan reported a problem in which, after upgrading his B4 from
Q2C24 to Q2D08, the system would come up with a small black square on a
white background, and not boot. Furthermore, by holding down the 4-button
salute, he could induce it to bail out to the ok prompt with a "Stack
 Underflow" message.

We traced the problem to the fact that his mfg data is corrupted, probably
as a result of using an early version of "$delete-tag". There is a bug in
OFWs mfg tag scanner that is triggered by that particular form of mfg data
 corruption.

This bug exists in most D-series firmware - probably as early as D04,
 perhaps even earlier.

It would only show up if the mfg data is bad in a specific way.
