 I just tried pointing my B4, running joyride-1542, at
 schoolserver.laptop.org.  I do not see any other peers, although
 .sugar/default/config shows "Registered = True".  I can ping the address
 just fine.  Is the server really open-access over the net?

 The previous time I went to 1CC, in early December, I saw the same
 behavior.  Invitations worked at home, but not at 1CC.  I do not know the
 cause, but I do not think it is a temporary problem.
