Comment:

 What surprises me about this one is that Erik can reproduce it with a
 GStreamer pipeline alone. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if the PS had
 some performance problems when dealing with large amounts of buddies, but
 I would expect them to only surface in the context of an activity talking
 to it.

 A good place to start with debugging might be "top", to see if there's CPU
 starvation.
