 http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Requirements#Screen_off

PW3 The screen will turn back on at the press of any key on the
keyboard, mouse, directional or gamepad keys. The back light will come
back on to the level it was before the screen was turned off. The key
press will not be acted upon.

My apologies if I misunderstood the requirement.
