 Oops, I meant ticket #5746 in the above comment. Sorry for confusion.

 To clarify, I think OLPC should add the udev rule I posted in ticket #5746
 which turns this ticket into a non-issue.

 However, this ticket does indicate what seems to be a NetworkManager bug,
 which Dan Williams or other upstream NM developers will probably want to
 solve regardless.
