Comment:

 We use sudo now to get root privileges we need for certain commands. The
 sudo command which preserves the SUGAR_PATH and which has $HOME still set
 to /home/olpc when invoking a sudo command went into joyride and update-1
 (tested in 1525 update.1-679). So the following commands does not cause
 any errors anymore.

    sudo sugar-control-panel -s nick [name]
    sudo sugar-control-panel -g nick
 }}}

 or when you did:

    sudo bash
    sugar-control-panel -g nick
 }}}
