Comment:

 Reproduced this on a MP machine running 653 with no trouble at all.

 Updated to update1-674 and did the same test 10 times in a row, it is now
 working fine: bottom border disappears when you unplug the stick,
 reappears when you plug it in, and things continue to work correctly when
 you repeat the process.
