 The concern for screen rotation was brought up.  The simplest solution
 here, I think, is to specify independent values for MAX_SIZE and
 MAX_SHOWN.  When the screen is rotated, these will be equal; when in
 "normal" mode, MAX_SHOWN < MAX_SIZE.  When this happens, we still desire
 to prevent scrolling, and so the bottom items on the clipboard will simply
 not be shown.
