Comment(by wmb at firmworks.com):

 Test procedure:

 a) Start the selftests by holding the rocker to the left while powering
 up.

 b) Observe that, after each test phase, there is a green "Okay" or a red
 "Selftest failed" message, followed by a countdown (2 seconds for Okay, 10
 seconds for failed). The green "Okay" constitutes positive indication of
 success, while the countdown gives you more time to read the message or
 time to activate the pause mechanism as below.

 c) During the countdown, hold the rotate button. Observe that the
 countdown stops and is replaced by a "Release the game button to continue"
 message. When the button is released, that message will be erased and
 testing progress will continue.

 d) If the rotate button is not pressed during the countdown, testing
 progress resumes when the countdown expires.

 e) After the NAND FLASH selftest, hold down the rotate button to pause so
 that you can read the messages. Observe the note telling you that a few
 bad blocks is normal.
