Comment(by sjoerd):

 Because if even ping doesn't work, even when ip and friends indicate that
 the network is configured correctly, then it must be a wireless issue..
 Why it doesn't happen when rainbow is disabled, we're not sure. Rainbow
 itself doesn't do any network configuration whatsoever, so it's more
 probably that rainbow just causes it to be triggered more easily

 Anyway, i updated my own machines and can easily reproduce it by just
 booting them, pointing them to the same mesh network and trying to ping
 eachother.. It just doesn't work, while the multicast traffic works fine
 (salut sees the presence of others etc).

 Watching in tcpdump i see the pinging machine sending out arp requests,
 but never receiving an arp reply.. Watching on the other machine, it does
 receive arp requests and it does sends out arp replies..

 I used a third XO to capture the mesh traffic on the rtap device, capture
 attached.. Hopefully this reveals some usefull info. Feel free to ask for
 more info if needed
