 But I'm wasn't zooming anything, just trying to read a book. That is what
 the activity is intended to do, right? The pages up front in this book are
 not particularly dense or complex, just titles, copyrights, and TOC. Full
 text+illustration pages later in the book, OTOH, render fine.

 A much longer book, a PDF of Conan Doyle's "The Lost World", at 350 pages
 (http://www.archive.org/download/lostworld00doyluoft/lostworld00doyluoft.pdf),
 dies from the get-go as I recall. These were the first and only 2 books I
 tried to use the XO to read, and I guess I'm 0-for-2 (though you can sneak
 around the troublesome page 5 of Flatland, if you know to do so.) It would
 seem frustrating at best for children to use unless schools pre-screened
 books for ones that worked on the XO, which would mean visiting every page
 to make sure it didn't crash.
